We are a group of professionals who share a healthy degree of unwarranted optimism. We are continually seeking to improve things. We are passionate, energetic, and opinionated. We are also team players who listen carefully. Today the firm is a recognized consultancy with the creative skills, technical knowledge, and experience that define its unique contribution to the process of interior design. We are sensitive to what part of our knowledge is distinct from that of other professional groups. We emphasize and cultivate the knowledge we share that makes us distinct from other professional groups.

Charles Sparks

Charles Sparks, RDI

As CEO, president, and corporate creative director of the firm, Charles guides the creative team of professionals. His influence is recognized throughout all of the firm’s projects, and his work is among the most recognized for design excellence, receiving more than 40 national and international design awards. His design background of 37 years spans consumer products, architecture and interior design, and branding. He was inducted into the Retail Legion of Honor for Lifetime Achievement in January 2008 by the Institute of Store Planners (recently rebranded as the Retail Design Institute).

Charles has designed for a diverse range of businesses, and his design experience has moved beyond traditional retail stores. Many recognized museums and cultural institutions have sought his advice on integrating retail activity as a way to enhance their mission and their outreach.

His work is represented throughout North America and in the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, and Malaysia. Charles’ approach to the integration of the disciplines of architecture, lighting, and what he calls “crafting the dynamic environment” has resulted in places where people are inspired to emotionally engage with brands, products, art, artifacts, and services. His work is frequently published in national and international trade periodicals in the retail design field.

Charles is a professional member of the Retail Design Institute, the Association for Retail Environments, the Museum Store Association, the International Council of Shopping Centers, the International Interior Design Association, and the American Institute of Architects, and he serves on the editorial advisory board of Display and Design Ideas (DDI) magazine. Charles holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Environmental Design from the Art Institute of Chicago.
