This 150,000-square-foot Neiman Marcus store at the Grand Court of The Shops at Willow Bend in Plano, Texas, serves the growing North Dallas market. This was the first Neiman Marcus project for Charles Sparks + Company, opening in 2000. Neiman Marcus is co-anchored here with Lord & Taylor, Dillards, Foley’s, and a future Saks Fifth Avenue. The store is well-known for featuring the world’s finest fashions and accessories for men, women, and children, as well as precious and designer jewelry, exclusive beauty and cosmetics lines, collections for the home, and specialty gifts. To consumers throughout the world, the name Neiman Marcus evokes images of luxury, high-fashion apparel, world-famous designers, and flamboyant, fun-filled gifts. Since Neiman Marcus was founded more than 94 years ago, the specialty retailer has established a rich history of innovation and developed a legacy of pioneering new retail concepts.

We worked closely with Neiman Marcus to introduce an updated format and store design. We combined the disciplines of architecture, interior design, fixture design, and lighting design. The concept for this store instantly communicates the Neiman Marcus commitment to luxury and quality, while also striving to reinvigorate the sense of bold, contemporary style long associated with this retailer.

The design features a spacious three-level escalator atrium rising to a set of clerestory windows divided into a gridded pattern. Also featured is the first installation of the Sparks design of individualized room settings for an innovative concept for home décor, china, crystal, silver, and tableware, called Gift Galleries. Rich and unique accents of tinted polished plasters, slumped art glass walls made by hand, mother-of-pearl countertops, custom-designed area rugs, Murano glass light fixtures, and other unexpected materials are used throughout. Highly personalized environments were designed for some of the world’s finest names in retail merchandising, such as Piazza Sempione, Dolce & Gabbana, Yves St. Laurent, Armani, Gucci, Prada, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Celine, Escada, Ferragamo, Tod’s, and Cristofle Silver. These are the only Celine and Dolce & Gabbana shops in Dallas. The interior design also boldly incorporates areas for display of the Neiman Marcus Collection of fine art.
