Neiman Marcus

This 136,000-square-foot store for Neiman Marcus is located in The Village of Merrick Park, Coral Gables, Florida. This center is conceived as a mini town center and is a contemporary interpretation of George Merrick’s 1926 vision to develop Coral Gables into the American Garden City.

The design concept features inspiration from a mixture of modernist design principles incorporating simple lines and broad planar surfaces, together with the curved lines, ornament, and motifs found in the area’s Spanish Colonial architecture.

Charles Sparks + Company created a refined and expanded design for the Neiman Marcus presentation of home décor, china, crystal, silver, and tableware, called Gift Galleries. Throughout the store, neutral colors and lush textures are used in combination with rich and unique accents of special plaster finishes, slumped art glass frames, hand-painted tiles and mosaic borders, custom-designed area rugs, hand-carved alabaster light fixtures, and other unexpected materials. Luxurious fitting rooms throughout the store are designed for speed, comfort, and convenience, with an emphasis on built-in details and amenities found in finer residences. An eclectic mix of furniture, fine art, and fixture details adds a unique personality to the store. We also coordinated the integration of highly individualized shops of some of the world’s finest names in retail merchandising.
