For this 14,700-square-foot specialty men’s and women’s apparel store located in the center court on the lower level of this established mall in Northbrook, Illinois, Sparks designed large divider cabinets to create a progression of rooms along an axis. Strategically located fitting rooms are designed for comfort and convenience.

Throughout the store, an eclectic mix of classic modernist furniture, art, and colorfully designed area rugs combine with neutral colors and textures. Finishes included large frames of ribbon mahogany, a special color plaster accent, grit-blasted glass, and mosaic tiles to set the evolving Mark Shale modern style.

The open storefront design maximizes exposure of the space inside and sets a versatile stage for visual merchandising. The understated design places the focus on the merchandise.
